Completed Marking Your Paper 2

I am satisfied with most of you. I noticed a lot of improvement in q1 and q2.

However, some of the common mistakes ( told you many times not to do it ) are :

Q1 :

1. Don't start a sentence with a pronoun.
2. No prediction !
3. Construct mixture of sentences , not only simple sentences .

Q2 :

For section A , most of you scored 10 marks. Well done !
For section 2, some of you did not support your points.

* Some of you are still not using the reasons given in the Handy Guide , making a lot of grammar mistakes.

Q3 :

1. Some of you did not read the question - you are supposed to be the character !
2. Mixture of tenses - lost a lot of marks here.
3. I can conclude that most of you do not know how to make an omelette ! Getting all sorts of methods .

* Ask your mum to teach you to make one this holiday.

Happy Mother's Day

A very touching story which reminds me of my mum on Mother's Day.

A man stopped at a flower shop to order some flowers to be wired to his mother who lived two hundred miles away. As he got out of his car, he noticed a young girl sitting on the curb crying. He asked her what was wrong and she replied, "I wanted to buy a red rose for my mother. But I only have seventy-five cents, and a rose costs two dollars." The man smiled and said, "Come on in with me. I'll buy you a rose."He bought the little girl her rose and ordered his own mother's flowers. As they were leaving he offered the girl a ride home. She said, "Yes, please! You can take me to my mother." She directed him to a cemetery, where she placed the rose on a freshly dug grave. The man returned to the flower shop, cancelled the wire order, picked up a bouquet and drove the two hundred miles to his mother's house.

Appreciate our mums when they are still around us. Make her happy.
Mother's love is one of our life's greatest gifts.

My beloved mum

To all mothers out there, Happy Mother's Day.

Hari Keusahawanan 2010

The programme has indeed achieved the main objective of pupils applying what they have learnt in their Living Skills subject in a real life experience.

Although I was away for a course on Friday, the day before the special occasion, I am proud to say that all of you did your part extremely well to make the day a success. In less than 3 hours , all the food was sold out!
We made RM550 which we will use for our year end party.

I would also like to thank all the generous parents who had sponsored the food and a few parents who came early to help out at the stall. Your contribution is much appreciated.

Appreciation attratcts appreciation

To allow the Universe to move you in your life to happier and better things, you are going to need to look around you and appreciate the good things here and now. Seek the beautiful things and count the blessings of where you are. Dissatisfaction will not bring the happier and the better into your life. Dissatisfaction roots you to the spot where you currently are, but appreciation for what you have attracts the happier and better to you.

Remember that you are a magnet! Appreciation attracts appreciation!

May the joy be with you,

HAPPY NEW YEAR

HAPPY NEW YEAR To all Hindus and Sikhs who celebrate their new year and vasakhi.
May the best be with you.

Did you know ?

Vasakhi, the birthday of Khalsa, comes around the time of spring. It coincides with the Christian festival of Easter and the Jewish Passover, both festivals celebrating spring, goodwill and new beginnings. Vasakhi, April 14 is a traditional seasonal festival of North India and is treated as a New Year’s day by the farmers and others in North India. The harvesting of wheat is started at this time and it is considered a harbinger of wealth and prosperity. It is important and celebrated by all communities in India, but in the Sikhs it has a special significance.

On this day the order of the Khalsa was created by the Tenth Guru, Guru Gobind Singh. He Baptised Five Beloved Ones - Panj Payaras - and created The Khalsa . He gave a distinct uniform to the Sikhs ( uncut, untrimmed beard & Unshorn hair to be protected by a Turban), the 5 Kakkars or symbols necessary for the strength and unity of the religion and brotherhood, and the 5 basic prayers. Vasakhi stands for the Birth Anniversary of the Sikhs And Khalsa Brotherhood. It is customary on this day for the Sikhs to assemble together in the Gurdwara (Temple) to offer prayers. On this day, yellow color has significance - the colors of the harvesting month are yellow and also the Sikh flag is yellow with blue Khanda, a Khalsa symbol in its center.

Another message from the Secret

Remember, if you are criticizing, you are not being grateful. If you are blaming, you are not being grateful. If you are complaining, you are not being grateful. If you are feeling tension, you are not being grateful. If you are rushing, you are not being grateful. If you are in a bad mood, you are not being grateful.
Gratitude can transform your life. Are you allowing minor things to get in the way of your transformation and the life you deserve?
May the joy be with you,

Rhonda Byrne

The Secret from Rhonda Byrne ...bringing joy to billions

I find this very meaningful and would to like share it with you.

From The Secret Daily Teachings :

Our natural state of being is joy, and it takes so much energy to think negative thoughts, to speak negative words, and to feel miserable. The easy path is good thoughts, good words, and good deeds.

Take the easy path.

May the joy be with you.

The Secret

Can you still remember the book entitled " The Secret " that I told you in class ?

I will be sharing with you some of the secrets that make us look at things more positively in our lives. Like what I have always told you , when you are positive , everything will go smoothly. Whatever your mind can conceive, it can be achieved .

The 1st secret message from Rhonda Byrne , the creator of The Secret :

Begin your day by feeling grateful. Be grateful for the bed you just slept in, the roof over your head, the carpet or floor under your feet, the running water, the soap, your shower, your toothbrush, your clothes, your shoes, the refrigerator that keeps your food cold, the car that you travel in, your school, your friends.

Be grateful for the stores that make it so easy to buy the things you need, the restaurants, the utilities, services, and electrical appliances that make your life effortless.

Be grateful for the magazines and the books that you read. Be grateful for the chair that you sit on, and the pavement that you walk on.

Be grateful for the weather, the sun, the sky, the birds, the trees, the grass, the rain, and the flowers.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

May the joy be with you,

Happy Chinese New Year

We will be off for Chinese New Year for 9 days.

For those celebrating , I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you A Happy Chinese New year.

May the tiger year brings all of you good health and success especially in your UPSR this year.

Below is something interesting I found from the website about your animal sign. Let's see if you too have these characteristics :

THE SIGN OF THE TIGER

Tigers will be completely honest about how they feel and expect the same of you. On the other hand, they seek approval from peers and family. Generally, because of their charming personalities Tigers are well liked.

Often, failing at a given task or being unproductive in his personal or professional life can cause a Tiger to experience a depression. Criticism from loved ones can also generate this type of Tiger reaction. Still, like all felines, Tigers always land on their feet, ready for their next act in life, pursuing it with unyielding energy and hunting it infallibly.

Tigers are also incorrigibly competitive - they simply cannot pass up a challenge, especially when honor is at stake, or they are protecting those they love. Tigers are unpredictable and it would be unwise to underestimate their reactions. They may appear cool, but they have the Big Cat's instincts to pounce at a moment's warning.

Natural leaders, they have a strong sense of their own dignity, and if they find themselves in the ranks, they can be stubborn and obstinate. In positions of power they can be difficult though stimulating bosses.

Tigers are intelligent, alert, and farsighted. They have their fingers on the pulse. Good strategists and tacticians, they often have a hidden agenda. As long as they do not risk their luck too often, and keep their restless nature under control, their tactics usually pay off in life.

Can you identify your own strength and weaknesses ?
By doing so , you are able to plan and work towards achieving your goals.

For this long holiday , I will not be giving you much homework as I know all of you need a break especially for those who are celebrating Chinese New Year. However,
I have some online Grammar quizzes that you need to do. Go to the link of
' Road to Grammar ' above my chatbox and do exercise 11, 15, 191, 192 , 232 and 233. After you have completed each quiz , write your score in your Grammar Book.

I find some students not completing homework or handing in late ! The reason : as usual ,
" I forgot ."

Homework is given by teachers to reinforce what you have learnt in class and as a feedback to test your understanding. If you fail to hand in your homework, the teacher would not be able to help you.

Be organized and always plan your work. If you are forgetful, get a book / diary to remind youself of your homework.

If there is a will , there is a way.

Remember your resolution to score 5As this year ? Do something about it.

Next, your week 2 journal is due. Make sure you check your grammar and spelling before you publish it. No short forms , Alywn Yip .

Friday, January 8, 2010

Week 1 - 4/1/2010 to 10/1/2010

It is time to write your journal . No ideas ? Write anything you can think of. You can also start with : What should I write ? Maybe I should like about .... or about ...

Is there anything interesting that you would like to share ? Get started and soon you will find that you have so much to write . The best is you will be improving your writing skills and you will never be out of ideas.

Why are you still waiting ? Write your journal for the week now .

Welcome Back

It's 2010 .Welcome to 6 Bestari and Congratulations for being selected to be part of the family.

As I have mentioned in class, the motto of our class is " Don't Try, Give Your Best ! "

In whatever we do, give our best and success will be will us. Be positive and always believe that we can do it . Whatever the mind can conceive , it can be achieved. However, hardwork is needed . There is no free lunch in this world. Hardwork is never left unrewarded.

This year, we will be doing a lot of communication through this blog. You will also be using this blog to write your weekly journal. Use your blog as a platform to practise your writing skills. Therefore, when you are writing your journal , make sure you use the standard English . Proofread and correct your mistakes before publishing it. All your work will be evaluated as homework.
